the route

Before we left on our adventure we plotted the locations of the campgrounds and odd hostel we had planned to stay at as we cycled from Vancouver to the Mexican border. Google’s cycling directions then drew a fat blue line between these stops but we didn’t follow this.

Instead we used a combination of the guide book Bicycling the Pacific Coast Highway, the Adventure Cycling Association’s maps and also followed our noses as we were invited to stay with people, heard about cool places and explored the west coast.

We took two months to complete the ride because we spent a lot of time exploring our surroundings. However, if you are pushed for time, someone of average fitness could ride the distance in six weeks easily.

  1. Nice website and hope you guys are having good time!
I (luckily) live in Vancouver and will start riding on June 30 (ideally). My route will go through WA olympic peninsula first before getting to the coast.

Who know’s I might bump into to you guys at some stage 🙂

    • Thanks Yaniv and enjoy your ride! We loved Washington which was spectacular and we’re a little sad to leave behind. Safe journey and please do say hello if you see us on the road. James.
